The Laser Knife is used in conjunction with a galvo scanner for cycle time-optimised, energy-saving and reproducible soldering.

The temperature-controlled laser is equipped with an integrated pyrometer and a camera, guaranteeing optimum process stability, quality and traceability for the user. The Laser Knife enables optimum results when soldering flexible foils, cable strands, ribbon cables and battery pins. The soldering process is characterised by high-quality results and high reproducibility, combined with high energy efficiency and process speed. Especially in high-volume production, the Laser Knife enables cycle time-optimised soldering for various end products. Depending on the product and application, extremely short cycle times of up to ≥0.5 seconds per solder joint are possible.

A Galvo scanner is a high-precision, dynamic beam guidance system that can be used in laser processes. The technology enables extremely fast and flexible positioning of the laser beam within the scan field. The scanner optics work with two high-precision mirrors that deflect the laser beam in the X and Y directions. The mirrors are mounted on galvanometer motors that can be controlled very quickly and precisely, allowing the laser beam to be moved to a new position within milliseconds. The size of the scan field depends on the focal lengths of the collimation and f-theta lenses used. Eutect uses a scan field of 140 x 140 mm as standard. The combination of high precision, fast process speed and flexible integration enables time-optimised and reliable soldering processes.
