Due to ever smaller and more flexible robots being used in a wide variety of cell systems for a wide variety of applications, the question of component handling is becoming increasingly important.
Especially when assemblies are transported on workpiece carriers (WC) within a conveyor system.
Due to the weight and dimensions, such workpiece carriers are difficult to move, especially for small 6-axis robots. For this reason, the satellite workpiece carrier was developed.
This sits on the actual transport workpiece carrier and is gripped directly from the transport workpiece carrier by the robot and/or a handling kinematic system. The satellite carriers are then simply transported to the individual processes. The satellite carrier is free of any functions and is used solely to move the assembly.
